Lincoln County offers its students a good educational system: one of the reasons so many businesses and individuals choose to move here. The county has four school districts. Lincoln County R-I in Silex, the northwest district; R-II in Elsberry, in the northeast; R-III, the largest district, surrounding Troy and the south-west portion of the county; and R-IV in Winfield, the southeast and second largest district. In the R-II district in Elsberry, almost 1,000 students attend Clarence Cannon Elementary School, Cannon Middle School and Elsberry High School. The largest district, R-III, has an enrollment of nearly 4,000 students.

Lincoln County's schools all have low student-to-teacher ratios. Most teachers have an average of nearly 10 years experience. Spending per pupil in all four districts average from $3,800 to more than $5,000 per student.

Both Missouri Baptist College and Lindenwood University have extensions in Moscow Mills. Pike-Lincoln Tech is located in Eolia. Just a short drive away, in Saint Charles County, students can begin their college careers at Saint Charles Community College, and continue them at Lindenwood University. Saint Louis County is home to the University of Missouri-Saint Louis, Washington University, Webster University, Saint Louis University and the main campus of Missouri Baptist College, among others.
