Building on our past by investing in our future

The Lincoln County Auditor is an elected office with a four year term.
Deanna Colbert began her first term as auditor on January 1, 2011. Deanna holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Central Methodist University. Prior to her election to office, she was employed with various corporations in a variety of accounting and administrative roles.
The Auditor serves as the accounting officer for the county. It is the responsibility of the auditor to establish and monitor the accounting and budgeting systems of Lincoln County. The Auditor is responsible for preparing the County's financial statements and coordinating the annual financial audit. Because the auditor works with and reviews the daily financial activities, she therefore lacks the necessary independence requirement of the Government Accounting Standards Board. Due to this, an outside auditing firm is required to perform the annual financial audits. This is a necessary element of continuing to receive grant moneys. The auditor also assists the budget officer with gathering information on revenues and expenses and requested budgets for each department. The Auditor monitors compliance with internal controls and procedures, reviews accounts payable activity, monitors and evaluates the condition of the County budget and funds, and certifies contracts and expenditures. The Lincoln County Auditor also maintains property records and conducts physical asset inventories.
